SHINY PURPOSE

Chronicles of a girl that found GRACE!

Let Him be your “I AM”

HELLO BRIGHTNESS,

13 And Moses said to God, Behold, when I come to the Israelites and say to them, The God of your fathers has sent me to you, and they say to me, What is His name? What shall I say to them?

14 And God said to Moses, I Am Who I Am and What I Am, and I Will Be What I Will Be; and He said, You shall say this to the Israelites: I Am has sent me to you!

Exodus 3:13-14

From the verses above, you can already tell where I am going; but let’s not assume anything yet.

Ever since I came across that part of the Bible, I haven’t recovered from the revelation and I don’t ever want to be. There are a lot of things we just assume we already know about God, it’s not even because you are proud or that you became too familiar in your relationship with God (“see finish syndrome”), I think it’s more of a communication deficiency.

Let me explain; you know there are many names we call God i.e. Alpha and Omega, All-sufficient, Jehovah Rapha etc., remember we also call Him “I AM that I AM”? Yes He sure is, but it’s the depth in it for me.

God will be who you call him to be…..Hold on! I know right now you might be thinking “isn’t God everything?, doesn’t He know all things and sees all things? Oh yes! God is all that and more but He never created robots, He will never force Himself on you.

One morning during my devotion, I read that passage and it immediately rang a bell as I had heard that particular verse in bible school few weeks back and it caught my attention, but reading it that morning gave it a different light (because the word of God is new every morning). Just to break down those verses for you and how the Holy Spirit helped me see the light in that scripture; God gave Moses some instructions to give to the Israelites and because Moses was worried about what the reaction of the people will be, He asked God “who should I tell them sent me?” and God simply told Him “I AM”.

Sitting down there in my room that morning I was just wondering; God could have told Moses to tell them a particular attribute of His or all that He is but the list would have been endless. Instead, He chose to give the Israelites a choice or choices to have Him as whatever they wanted Him to be called…..that’s deep right?

God is so gracious He lets us operate however we choose to (whether death or life). So if the Israelites call God their provider, then He would be. If they call Him their deliverer, then He will be. And the Holy Spirit was saying “God will not be your healer if you only see Him as your provider” I was shocked ‘cos I never knew that.

That morning, I sensed God was telling me “Let me be who I AM to you”. Immediately, I took my journal and wrote out everything I ever wanted God to be for me. (At this point I think you should do that too!)

If you need business/career breakthrough, don’t just call on God “Your healer” and expect Him to answer, He will only answer to the name you call Him to be…..this is becoming complicated isn’t it? Let me give you a hint by the help of the Holy Spirit, when you need God to be anything for you; just find scriptures to back up that situation and boom! the name to call God is in there. While typing this post; a verse just jumped in my heart that says:

“for You have exalted Your word above all Your name. (see psalm 138;2)” the things of the Spirit are interpreted in the Spirit; the Holy Spirit just answered that God’s word is His name” because the word of God is God!

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John1:1

No wonder some Christians might enjoy good health but lack prosperity because it’s as far as our eyes can see, they only know that God can heal them and give them perfect health but don’t see God as the master prosperity giver and so they continue to struggle in ignorance. In conclusion, Let God be who He is to you!

STAY SHINY,
